GxP Services Market Overview

Published October 2026

Spending on GxP quality, validation and compliance services is expected to grow steadily over the next decade, with sub-sector level CAGRs reaching as high as 9.9% per year through 2035.

Growth is being driven by tighter regulatory oversight, creating consistent demand for specialized expertise. FDA drug-quality warning letters have risen three years in a row, reaching 135 in 2025, up 67% from 2020. Regulators have also introduced new standards for medical device quality, clinical trial oversight, and software assurance. Manufacturers are responding by updating their quality systems and continuing to outsource the work to experienced partners.

Several structural tailwinds continue to support the sector:

  1. More Complex Therapies: The FDA now lists 54 approved cell and gene therapies, each requiring its own validation along with controlled storage and transport
  2. Recurring Demand: Compliance work repeats with every audit, system upgrade and inspection, and top-valued providers have more than 70% of revenue under multi-year contracts
  3. Proven Exit Path: Private equity sponsors have completed 16 exits since 2021, giving investors a clear route to returns
  4. A Deep Buyer Pool: The sector has drawn 142 unique acquirers, and strategic buyers account for roughly three-quarters of all deals

These dynamics have supported sustained M&A activity. Since 2021, the sector has seen 223 transactions, including 63 new platforms and 128 add-ons by sponsor-backed platforms. Strategic acquisitions rose 45% between 2023 and 2025, and the third quarter of 2026 was the busiest since mid-2022.
